Enhance access to biopharmaceuticals by facilitating local manufacturing capacity in low- and middle-income countries
Emerging Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturers Network (EBPMN)
The growing importance of biopharmaceuticals presents a unique opportunity to address unmet medical needs and enhance the quality of care in developing countries. Biopharmaceuticals, in particular biosimilars, are rapidly becoming critical health intervention tools in the global health space, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Emerging markets have been ‘blue oceans’ for biosimilars, and the high growth rate in the uptake of biologics represents the vast potential for companies developing biosimilars.
Who are we
EBPMN is an alliance of biopharmaceutical manufacturers from emerging economies that focuses on enabling capacity building for biologics and biosimilars that remain largely out of reach for populations in LMICs. The network has active members from countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Who are we
Biologics and biosimilars remain largely out of reach for populations in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). EBPMN is an alliance of biopharmaceutical manufacturers from emerging economies that focuses on bridging this gap by enabling capacity building for biologics and biosimilars across these geographies.
The network has active members from countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Our vision
The network aspires to become a recognized global platform for public-private collaborations between emerging biopharmaceutical manufacturers in LMICs and global organizations, government and non-governmental bodies, academic institutions, and biotech entities.

What we do
Currently, EBPMN provides its members with up-to-date information on new developments in biotherapeutics, specifically biosimilars. This includes strategic, scientific, technological, and commercial developments and opportunities, with a focus on the establishment of product development partnerships (PDPs), including joint development, commercialization, and technology transfer.
Functions
- Engaging industry experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders to explore potential partnerships, collaborations, and knowledge exchange opportunities.
- Policy advocacy and knowledge sharing at global forums through presentations, panel discussions, and interactive demonstrations.
- Presenting our member’s products and technologies related to local production and technology transfer to commercial partners, procurement agencies, and policymakers.
- Showcase successful case studies and initiatives to inspire and encourage others to embrace local production and technology transfer.
